Renting in the Ankeny schools
The school district is the reason a lot of families look at Ankeny in the first place. Here is how it is organized, where The Pines sits in it, and the one step you should take before you sign a lease anywhere in this town.
Confirm your address first
Ankeny Community School District is the only authority on which buildings an address attends, and the boundaries move as the district grows and opens schools. Before you sign a lease — here or anywhere in Ankeny — look your exact address up with the district. We are not going to promise you a school assignment we do not control.
How the district is built
Ankeny runs two complete feeder systems, north and south, on a K–5, 6–7, 8–9, 10–12 structure. That means a student changes buildings four times, and each feeder has its own set. The north feeder ends at Ankeny Centennial High School; the south feeder ends at Ankeny High School.
The Pines is in the north end of town. These are the north feeder buildings and how far each one is from our front door, by road:

The whole run of it, kindergarten through graduation, sits inside about two miles of the house. Northview is 0.3 miles — the near end of the neighborhood.
After the last bell
Prairie Ridge Sports Complex and the city aquatic center are 1.0 miles away, next to the middle school. The DMACC Ankeny campus, 2.7 miles down the boulevard, is where a lot of Ankeny students take college credit before they finish high school.
Room for a family
Thirty-nine of our 53 homes have three bedrooms, starting at 1,415 square feet, and every home has an attached garage. Openings are limited; if nothing is listed, ask about the wait list.
