How do I book a tour of The Pines?
Click Book a Tour anywhere on this site and tell us your name, contact information, and desired move-in date — your request goes straight to our leasing team, and we’ll reach out to set a time. Prefer to talk? Call or text (515) 219-4014.
How do I apply, and what does it cost to apply?
Applications are submitted online through the listing on our availability page — click the home you want and choose Apply Now. The application fee is $40 per applicant.
What is the security deposit?
The security deposit is equal to one month’s rent for the home you’re applying for — you’ll see the exact amount on each listing on our availability page. Additional fees, restrictions, and qualifications may apply.
Are pets allowed?
Cats and small dogs are welcome, with restrictions and added pet fees. Ask the leasing team about your pet when you tour.
What comes with every home?
Every home at The Pines includes an in-unit washer and dryer, central air conditioning, a gas fireplace, an attached 1- or 2-car garage, and a private balcony, deck, or patio. Lawn care and snow removal are taken care of for you.
Are all of the homes townhomes?
No — and that's part of what makes The Pines unusual. The outer ring of the neighborhood is two-story townhomes, while the center buildings are generously sized single-level homes, upstairs and down. Every home is 1,360 square feet or larger with an attached garage.
What sizes are the homes, and what do they rent for?
There are four plans: a 2-bed/2-bath at 1,360 sq ft, two 3-bed/2-bath plans at 1,415 and 1,460 sq ft, and a 3-bed/2.5-bath at 1,800 sq ft. Current rents for open homes are on the availability page — every listing shows its exact price.
Who manages The Pines?
The Pines is professionally managed by Kouri Management Corporation, with on-call maintenance. Residents pay rent and submit maintenance requests through the online resident portal.
What if nothing is available when I look?
That’s normal here — with 53 homes and neighbors who stay, openings are limited. Book a tour or call (515) 219-4014 and we’ll put you on the wait list; you’ll hear about the next opening before it’s posted.
Where is The Pines located?
At 309 NW 18th Street in Ankeny, Iowa — one block west of North Ankeny Boulevard in the north end of town. Northview Middle School is 0.3 miles away, Ankeny Centennial High School is 1.3, the Hy-Vee on N. Ankeny Blvd is 1.1, and downtown Des Moines is 14.5 miles. How far is The Pines from downtown Des Moines?
Downtown Des Moines is 14.5 miles from our front door by road, most of it interstate, and Des Moines International Airport is 18.9 miles. The I-35 on-ramp is 2.3 miles east of the property. We publish miles instead of drive times because a drive time depends on when you leave.
What schools serve The Pines?
The Pines sits in the north feeder of Ankeny Community School District, which runs a K–5, 6–7, 8–9, 10–12 structure. The north feeder buildings are Northwest Elementary (2.1 miles), Prairie Ridge Middle School for grades 6–7 (1.0 miles), Northview Middle School for grades 8–9 (0.3 miles), and Ankeny Centennial High School (1.3 miles). How close is the High Trestle Trail?
The trail head is 1.6 miles away, at the Ankeny Market & Pavilion on West First Street. From there the High Trestle Trail runs about 25 paved miles northwest to Woodward, crossing the Des Moines River valley on the lit half-mile trestle bridge that the trail is known for. Where do residents shop for groceries?
The Hy-Vee on North Ankeny Boulevard is 1.1 miles away, and the boulevard itself carries most day-to-day errands. The District at Prairie Trail, with more restaurants and shops, is 3.4 miles south.
Is The Pines close to DMACC?
The DMACC Ankeny campus, the college's largest, is 2.7 miles down North Ankeny Boulevard.
How far is Saylorville Lake?
Saylorville Lake is 6.1 miles away, with beaches, boat ramps, campgrounds and the Neal Smith Trail. Ankeny's own trail network connects toward it.
Do you have three-bedroom rentals in Ankeny?
Yes — 39 of our 53 homes have three bedrooms, across three plans at 1,415, 1,460 and 1,800 square feet. Every one has an attached garage and a washer and dryer in the home. See the three-bedroom page, or the availability page for what is open right now.
Does every home have a garage?
Yes. Every home at The Pines has its own attached garage, one or two cars depending on the plan, with a door directly into the home — not a carport and not a detached stall across the lot. Lawn care and snow removal are included as well. More on the attached garage page.
Why are so many people moving to Ankeny?
Ankeny is the fastest-growing city in Iowa. The 2024 Special Census confirmed 76,207 residents, up 12.25 percent in four years, making it the fifth largest city in the state. The short version is jobs and schools: the Des Moines metro is a 14.5-mile drive, the school district keeps building, and the parks and trail network went in alongside the neighborhoods.
